Safeguarding Children Policy

Introduction
KnowledgePond International Education and Development Ltd will ensure that students tutored through them are given tuition in a congenial and safe environment. Each tutor has a moral and legal obligation to ensure that, when given responsibility for young people, these young people are treated with the highest possible standard of care. A child/young person is defined as a person under the age of 18 (The Children's Act 1989 and 2004).

Policy Statement
KnowledgePond International Education and Development Ltd's tutors are committed to ensuring that:
(a) the welfare of the child is paramount;
(b) all children, whatever their age, culture, ability, gender, language, racial origin, religious belief and/or sexual identity are able to receive the benefit of tutoring in a safe environment;
(c) all reasonable steps are taken to protect children from harm, discrimination and demeaning treatment and to respect their rights, wishes and feelings;
(d) all suspicions and allegations of poor practice or abuse will be taken seriously and responded to swiftly and appropriately;
(e) all tutors who work with children will be recruited with regard to their suitability for that responsibility, and will seek guidance and/or training in good practice and child protection procedures;
(f) they work in partnership with parents and children – which is essential for the protection of children.

Disclosure and Barring
KnowledgePond International Education and Development Ltd offers the following activities for children:
(a) online tutoring services where lessons are held via online platforms. Registrations to these educational tools and platforms are done by and with the consent of the parent(s) of the tutored child. The child is staying at their home under the supervision of their parents.

Health and Safety aspects
KnowledgePond International Education and Development Ltd requires the parent(s) to be present in the same room where the child is while the online lessons are conducted. KnowledgePond International Education and Development Ltd and its tutors are not personally responsible for any risks and dangers, possible injuries originating from situation where the parent(s) left the child alone. KnowledgePond International Education and Development Ltd's tutors are not physically present at the child's location to deal with any emergency situations. By enrolling their child in KnowledgePond International Education and Development Ltd's lessons and courses, parent(s) and/or caretakers accept full responsibility and duty of guarding their child's physical safety.

Photographing Children
No photos and/or videos will be taken or published of any child attending a lesson or course unless prior written permission is sought from a person with parental responsibility.
Taking photographs and recording videos during KnowledgePond International Education and Development Ltd's lessons is strictly prohibited.
KnowledgePond International Education and Development Ltd is not responsible for situations where the child takes photos or records videos during lessons. However, in such events, tutor will notify the parent(s) and requests the photos or videos to be deleted.

Monitor and review the policy and procedures
This policy shall be reviewed regularly or whenever there is a major change in the organisation or in relevant legislation.
